What is the pro & con of having 11kv & 33kv incoming, and what is the adv & disadv. of ..

Answer / Narendra Kumar Tiwari

Pros of having 11kV and 33kV incoming:
- Higher voltage levels allow for efficient power transmission over long distances with lower line losses.
- Transformers can be smaller and lighter, reducing costs and ease installation.
Cons of having 11kV and 33kV incoming:
- Higher voltages pose a greater risk of electric shock to personnel.
- Additional equipment is required for voltage transformation, step-up or step-down transformers, voltage regulators, and disconnect switches.
Advantages of converting from 11kV to 33kV:
- Reduced line losses due to the lower current flowing in higher voltage transmission lines.
- Lower equipment costs for transformers and other electrical components since they are smaller at higher voltages.
Disadvantages of converting from 11kV to 33kV:
- Increased investment in additional equipment for voltage transformation, step-up or step-down transformers, and related infrastructure.
