Generally for PLC Communication ,PLC aided tripping ,and
line LIVE / DEAD indications. It is a cheaper substitute for
PT also.In certain cases it can be used for synchronization
with the grid in GS.

CVT means capacitor voltage transformer and it use in
substation that it is above 230KV.PT or VT measure voltage
and this parameter used for protection system.in the high
voltage used CVT insted VT and capacitors play divider
role. we can used from these capasitors for PLC system
until cost have been minimum.

Is a contactor (or master relay) required between incoming lines and a VFD? The question goes to safety. If a contactor were used before the VFD and an e-stop engaged then the motor will coast to a stop (i.e. VFD loses power) instead of stopping much faster if the VFD braking fucntion were used. It would make more sense to keep power on the VFD.
