Why we use three phase world wide why not four phase or
five phase being used?

we can use any number of phases for supply....but we maximum
use 3phase supply because.. as tht number of phases get
increase system complexity increases... so 3phase is
efficient among them....

it is world wide standard.Thats why we use three phase
system.but its not so much logical answer.i think another
reason.we are producing electricity by alternator.so when we
use four or five phase system we have to change the design
of alternator. Then we should change pole, winding
everything. That is may be totally unbalanced.and if it is
possible it will not be cost effective.so we use three phase
system

3phases are adequate
to produce rotating
magnetic flux in
induction&synchronous
motor and no need for
further phases as well
as economically

in three phase configuration all of three phases are equally distant ,with respect to their angular position 120 degree apart, from each other and voltage b/w any two phases is equal viz designated by Vl_l and three phase configuration is balanced.

i think to balancing phase angle we have to use three or
more than three phase but for simplicity we use three phase.
as per example need not use capacitor to start a three
phase induction motor but for single phase system we need a
capacitor to start the motor.

As i know there is no particular reason for using 3
phase.Its only accepted as a standard.Thats why.
The possibilities for phase number is mathametically infinite.
