can we run three phase motor by single phase? and what
happens if we do this

Answer / sameer
No, If we do this nothing will happen motor rotor remain
stop on their stand still position, because single phase
supply does not produce revolving magnetic field which is
essential for rotating the rotor.
we can do this if we have two phase supply.we make open
delta connection by using two phase supply and gets 3 phase
supply and then we supplied it to motor 3 phase rotor.

Answer / vikram
no we cant run 3 phase motor with single phase, if we do so
nothing will happen, even motor does not produce any noise
because single phase supply can't produce magnetic field to
produce the torque to rotate the rotor.

S we CAN a single phase supply can not produce
rotating magnetic field BUT it produce alternative
magnetic field. It can start with low starting
torque if we give prime move(starting means) to
that motor

yes it will possible but three phase motor hp reduses and
it will run same speed
