vortex is natural phenomena occurring when liquid flow
around a bluff object.
For e.g when we throw the stone in water it generates vortex
in round circle.
same happens when a object is placed in between running liquid.
In vortex flow meter same is used and the frequency of
vortex generated is directly proportional to velocity of
liquid flowin.

in vortax flow used a restriction in the flow path which
creat the vortax that are directally proportional to the
velocity of flow.and there used a piezoelectric meterial
these vortax strikes on piezo which creates milivoltes which
are directally prpotional to strike rate of vortax..

Vortex flowmeter is a velocity based flow measurement device.
It consists of a flow tube with "Bluff body"/object with a specific dimensions/shape put in the flow path to generate vortices in the flow stream.
The vortices generation rate is proportional with fluid flowrate, these vortices is hitting a pressure sensor (piezoelectric type), the hitting rate is proportional to the flowrate.
The basic formula for getting fluid velocity:
V=DF/S
D:Bluff body dimension
F:vortices hitting frequency which is measured by pressure sensor.
S:Strouhal No.
Q=A.V, A:Flow path area
Adv. of no moving parts exist so we have high accuracy & stop in case of sudden flow stopping.
Disadv. of low accuracy with low flowrate.

Hi buddies! my name is sachin and i am working as a electrical and instrumentation engineer in a paper plant. right now i am facing a problem and if someone could help me it will be an immense pleasure to me. i am using AC 800M to synchronise DCS500 drives on paper machine and rewinder.communication is on PROFIBUS and we are using NPBA-01 module to link profibus to DC drives.But these days two of these drives are showing a error named FIELDBUS COMM.TIMED OUT and the drives get tripped.I have changed the NPBA module and PROFIBUS cable.So if anyone can do please help me out with this problem.I'll be highly grateful.
