in impulse turbine only kinetic energy is available at the
inlet . now using nozzle we can increase the velocity and
hence k.e(k.e=m*v*v/2) at inlet of turbine increases and
hence power developed will be more.

i am very much confused about direction of thrust in steam turbine...we have steam turbine of 13 stages,10 stages of impulse and 3 of reaction type....in study manual direction of thrust is towards inlet but on thrust bearing its loading side is towards condenser(exhaust side) wile also dummy ring is present in design which also restrict rotor to move in exhaust side direction not inlet ....
