What is the effect of high alkaline water to a boiler?

Answer / santhosh reddy
Due to the alkalinity, as water evaporates in the boiler,
it leads to the deposition of salts and these salts
deposited act as scales and prevent the transfer of heat to
the water in the tubes of the boiler as scales are bad
conductors of heat. This further increases the heat
consumption and the tube heating and thus lead to bending
of tubes due to overheating.
