What mr waheed said is correct. Its used to know the bearing capacity of soil with loading plates of different sizes on the actual site. The procedure is that you will need the instrument with JCB and at least 2 worker. You have to fix the plate on the specific land or place. Fix all the guages. Then apply the load on plate by jcb and take the reading on machine. You can search on youtube
