can we correct the p.f.of ac generator?

Answer / k.prakashchandra
Yes.By varying the excitation i.e. the terminal voltage. If
the voltage of the generator is more than the grid
voltage ,the pf will be lagging and the vice versa. But the
pf has to be maintained at 0.9 to 0.98 lag ,for system
stability.A poor pf results in higher armature current
which is also not desirable

yes, we can correct the p.f of ac generator by manually
varying the volatage of generator and exciting current of
the field rotor. the recommended range of the p.f should
between 0.9 to 0.98 lagging. poor p.f more armature current
and increase in temperature of stator which is not
desirable.
