Answer / lakshmanarajan
The Ratio is 1:2:4 Total = 7
Ingredients of this Mixture is = 1.57
So the qty of Cement is = (1/7) x 1.57 = 0.224 cum
Volume of cement in i cum = 1440kg
therefore required cement = 1440 x 0.224 = 322.56kg
Weight of 1 cement bag is = 50 kg
so 322.56/50 = 6.45Bag
Add 5% for wastage = 6.45 x (5/100) = 6.77 bag required
Qty of Sand = (2/7) x 1.57 = 0.448 cum (1cum = 35.31 cuft)
convert cum to cuft = 0.448*35.31 = 15.18 cuft
Sand is available in unit,so 1 unit = 100 cuft
So required qty of sand is = 15.18/100 = 0.151 unit require
Qty of Aggregate = (4/7) x 1.57 = 0.89cum
Convert cum to cuft = 0.89 * 35.31 = 31.42cuft
sand & Aggregate also available in unit
so above the same as aggregate = 31.42/100 = 0.314 unit require

Ratio of concrete mix =1:2:4 (Calculation for 1cum)
Cement:-
1/7*1.54=.22 cum [1.54for dry volume]
=.22/0.0345
=6.38bags
Sand:-
2/7*.22=0.06cum
=0.06*35.32
=2.12cft
Aggregate:-
4/7*.22=0.13cum
=0.13*35.32
=4.59cft

In IS:456-2000 the workability of concrete is given in mm (slump)in cl.7.1. In IS:10262-1982, cl.3.3.4 & table-6 says +/- 3 percent adjustment is required in the quantity of water (calculated as per table-4 or 5), for each increase or decrease in the value of compacting factor (i.e. workability of concrete) by 0.1. How it is possible to calculate the exact quantity of water required for a particular grade of concrete? What is the relation between Slump & Compacting factor of concrete?
