1 KW means 1000watts
The calculating equation for power is different for an AC
circuit and DC circuit.
FOR DC it is voltage x amps. That is to find out the
currents
value divide the watts by the voltage.
For AC single phase circuit it is voltage (V)x current (I) x
power factor (PF).
FOR ac 3 phase circuit it is root 3 x V x I X PF
So for a single phase cct of 240 v a 1KW Power and assuming
a PF of 0.8 will take
1000 divided by 240 and divided by 0.8 will give you the
amps

How we find the size of cable if we know the current
If we have to feed a housing complex having load 8MVA, than what would be the better option, either we first step down 33kv supply into 11kv & than 430v or we proposed no of 33/.44 kv transformer, also which option is economical?
Give idea about General Engineering. From which book i can study this topic. Pl. reply me via email. My email is ravi@bhelhwr.co.in, also give the name of book/website, from where i can prepare it.
For polarity test on a 11/3.3kV 2.5MVA delta-star Unit Auxiliary transformer,415V 3-phase supply was applied at the HV. Connection between Aa was made with a 2.5mm cable. As soon as power was switched on the cable caught fire and burnt. This test was then abandoned. It is noteworthy to say that a similar cable was also used in a similar transformer for the same. The cable did not burn and test was successfully completed with good result. What is wrong? Please, help me out.
