The formation of lighting happens when the negatively
charged water droplets in the cloud or the supercooled
water droplets attract the positively charged particles
from the ground thus sending streamers down from the cloud
and up to the highest point on the ground. When they meet a
powerful current flows in between, this is called lightning.
