How to calculate the lighting load & power load requirement by knowing area of building/room. ..

Answer / ramesh

the lighting load is decided not just by the size of the
room but by considering various other factors like the
illumination level requiredin the room, which can theb
converted into electrical power by back working the number
of lamp and the lumens per watt of that chosen type of lamp.

As regarding power load, what i understand is it consists
of airc-conditioning. The thumb rule is 1.5 tonnes of air-
conditioning is required for a room of size say 10 ft x 10
ft x 10 ft. Normally 1.0 tonne ac plant will consume about
2.0 kw max. A 165 litre capacity domestic refrigretaor may
consume about 0.2 kw

For the other power loads like gadgtes (may be xerox
machine at office, computers, printers etc.,) we have to
sum up the actual name plate ratings.

How to calculate the lighting load & power load requirement by knowing area of building/room. ..

Answer / ayyappan

lighting load is nothing but a load without motor principle, except fan.at the same time power load is the load all motor and induction load..eg:pump motor, grinder, washingmachine, ac etc
for area we calculate the lighting load by illumination in candela.it also depens glare ,beam angle.
for power load its depends on the no of phase, for area means its like machine occupied by the area.

How to calculate the lighting load & power load requirement by knowing area of building/room. ..

Answer / rm

You can calculate based on lighting load density factor.. which depends on the type of occupancy.... let's say 15w/m2 500m2 Then calculate 500x15 = 7500w.each lighting point will b assumed to have 100w/unit. So 7500/100= 75 lighting points
