the basic concept of mechanical maintenance is to correctly
monitor the operational parameters,inspect the equipment
during the operation to verify the correct functional
performance for which it is intended and if observed any
faults then repair them immediately to maintain safe and
reliable operation of that machine/ device/ equipment.

The basic concept is to restore the machine to the original
condition using the methods of Breakdown maintenance,
Preventive maintenance, Predictive maintenance (using
Vibration analysis etc.) and to increase the availability /
OEE of the machine for an intended operation/purpose.Other
types of performance enhancing mechanical maintenance
activities include Design-in & Design-out maintenance
wherein the maintenance personnal go for inclusion of added
state-of-the-art features available in the market that can
be incorporated in the machine to either increase the
Reliability/Accuracy/Life etc. of the machine.
