rectifire is used to convert the ac in to dc but the
rectifier are to types according to voltage level.for low
voltage diode are used as a rectfire,we cannt control the
output of diode,in high voltage system SCR thyristor are
used as a rectifire,we can control the DC output of the
thyristor.

Answer / apoorv
we can easily convert ac to dc by using rectifiers or diodes. dc output can be controlled by usingphase controlled rectifiers , which employ scr's. by properly trigering scr's , with proper firing angles, and commutation circuitry, dc voltage , can be controlled.
