1.Can we use 2 packages in report studio at a time is there
any alternative for this?
No, we can not use two packages to in RS. The reason is
that a package itself has data sourced from different data
sources. Hence, there is no alternative to do this. Infact,
you can have links b\w two packages in FM.
2. What are Star Dimensions and Star Facts?
There is nothing called as Star diamension and Start Fact.
Yes, we do have star schema; technically speaking an
arrangement of object that are in your model i.e. table,
views, indexes in to a start structure. Here, the fact
table is central to the schema and surrounded by your
diamension tables originating from the center of the fact
table giving it a start design.
3.What are dimensions and facts in project ?
Diamnesion are tables that consists of attributes which are
descriptive in nature. We also call it a look uo when we
are in the fact table. Whereas, the fact table consists of
foreign keys (compounded) and aggregate or summary values.
The fact table hence has fact regarding the business e.g.
qty, revenue, gross profit, etc.
4.What is difference between 3 NF and Star Schema ?
3NF or third normal form is a rule for normalization of
tables. You have to learn 1NF and 2NF to know what actually
3NF is. Anyhow, they are used in OLTP systems where the
transcation is current and shoes upto date information.
Whereas, start schema is usually used in DW and hence, has
highly denoprmalized structure. This reduces the number of
joins that we may have when going for normalization and
makes DW fact for query retrieval.
6. How much time do u need to create a report ,if u have
four dimensions and 1 fact ?
Which is the report you are going to build? This should be
your question to the interviewer. If, you have the skilss
then a report author should not takke more then 20 minutes
to prepare a complex report with some filters and prompts.
7. How do u create a Model ?
If the question is abt how you are going to create a model
in FM then this are the steps;
a) Prepare the data sources.
b) Analyze and gather requirements.
c) Plan: which includes high level documentataion and Low
level documentation.
d) Implement: Design and development process.
e)Test: USe some test criteria.
f)Deploy: Moving from development to production.
g) Evolve: Adapt new features once deployed.
8. How do u connect a Parameter in a list ,such a way it
has to show relative objects in Cross tab ?
You may use the Master Detail relationship functionality in
RS to acheive this task. Remember, this will klead the
intrerview to ask on hoe u create MD relationship.
