Generator current depends on the power out put, if the
power is more current will be more.Sator current can be
reduced by increasing the genrator voltage, but there is
limit for increasing the voltage due to the insulation of
Stator ie. if the voltage is too high insulation level is
too thick and machine size will be too big and costlier.ie
why generation voltage is between 11 KV to 22 KV.

You can have generation voltage less than 11kV like 3.3kV,
6.6kV etc but normally not more than 22kV because at higher
voltages rotor insulation at high speed is practically very
difficult to manage.

The power generation found more economical, when it is
generated in the voltage level upto 15kv.that's why the
generator in the power sector are rated upto 15kv.

in electrical power generation side they produce large
amount of power that means that generator windings carry
very large amount of current for low voltages like 440. if
we use 11kv the current in alternator windings is
reduced....hence usually high range of voltages are used in
power generation side

now a days power is generated by using powerformers in some
contries at higher voltage. in england on lule river power
is generated at 30KV . and ABB is also planning to
manufacture powerformer to generate powerat 45KV.
morover power is generated at 26KV in mundra by tatapower

ONE REASON IS GENERATOR CURRENT AND 22 KV CAN BE FED DIRECTLY TO THE LOAD FOR SMALL POWER REQUIREMENTS AND REDUCTION TO DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS OF 11 KV WILL IMPROVE EFFICIENCY.
