1 Tonn of refrigeration consumes 1400 watt approx. For
coverting watt to ampere we have to divide 1400 to 230volt
it comes approx 6amperes for safety meausres we select 3
times bigger MCB that means 18ampere.

Checked the Current of LG 1 Ton AC with Clamp Meter Stable Current is 0.3 Amps and When Compressor is On it is 4.78Amps RMS

All the answers are actually wrong. MCBs can handle quite a larger current (2-15 times, depending on type) for short period of time so you don't consider inrush current.
Type B: 3-5 times
Type C: 5-10 times
Type D: 10-20 times
The breaker in the distribution box usually is dependent wire gauges. You can adjust the mcb with socket according to load.
Use type C for ac. Only use 1.5 times of the running current. I use 13A for 1.5 ton ac.

well i ve 1 ton LG Window AC, i ve checked its running amperage is 6.23A, So my answer is 6-7A in running , i ve connected a breaker of 10A which does not trip on starting or running... i dont know the starting current...but i think may be 9A?

32 A i MCB s perhaps wrong because if B type it can hold up to 95 A to 140 A for o0.05 seconds approx and for C type it can hold 150 to 300 A approx for 0.1 seconds . 16 A C type MCB will be enough.Thanks .

Check the Specification sheet of the Air-conditioner for wattage consumed or running current in Amperes. Starting current for compressor motors can be safely assumed as 3.5 times the running current. MCB (breaker) rating should be 1.5 times the max current required that is the starting current. So, Breaker rating should be 5-6 times Aircon running current. This is unique to appliances with motors like Refrigerators, Air conditioners, Washing machines, water pumps etc.,
