HOW FORCE ACTING ON SPUR AND HELICAL GEAR
Answer / Mayank Dwivedi
The force acting on spur and helical gears primarily includes the tangential force (or toque) and the normal force. The tangential force is responsible for causing rotation, while the normal force acts perpendicular to the surface of contact between the gears. The normal force arises due to the engagement of the teeth and helps in transmitting the torque from one gear to another. Other forces such as friction, bending, and torsional stresses may also be present but are secondary.
