If the transformer oil dielectric strength is low we do the
Oil Filtration. ofter the oil filtration we tested the oil
by using the testing unit it will show 80 KV. if the oil
was fulley Carbonised so we have to replace the oil.

Transformer Dielectric oil is tested in a Test Cell, I have
a few of them at home that I inherited from the origional
designer of the test. They look like a thermos flask and you
fill them with a bit of the oil from the transformer and
insert a center section that sits 2mm away from the surface
of the inside of the flask all around (2mm dielectric gap
all round). It is held there with glass / Mica supports. 2KV
is then passed between the inner and outer surfaces (via the
oil) to test its dielectric strength. A high voltage bridge
is normally used to get accurate resistance readings. If
dielectric strenth is low due to contamination it is replaced.
