Transformer oil is low viscosity lube termed as transformer
oil base stock, which is obtained by fractional distillation
and subsequent treatment of crube oil.Transformer oil
consists of 4 major organic compounds namely
paraffins,naphthenes,aromatics and olefines.All these are
hydro carbons and hence insulating oil is also called
hydrocarbon oil.

Transformer now days mainly contain mineral oil. It is obtained from crude oil, like a lubricating oil, which is fractionally distilled to obtain TOFS(transformer oil feed stock). These TOFS are further treated by manufacturers to reach the standards norms. Then they are branded as Power Oil, Transol etc.
