what is the difference between Miniature circuit breaker & motor control circuit breaker ?..

Answer / shantanu dash

Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB)has less short circuit with
stand current than MCCB( Moulded Case circuit breaker) or
MPCB( Motor protection Circuit Breaker).

Exp. MCB has short circuit withstand capacity of max. upto
10 KA. But MCCB/MPCB has fault withstand capacity from 25
KA to 50 KA or more.

Miniature circuit breaker comes in single pole/ two
pole/three pole/Four pole versions. but MCCB comes in
three/four pole version and MPCB comes in only three pole
version.

MCB Normally used in the lighting circuit. But MCCB is used
for feeder as well as motor protection having
Overload/short circuit/ earthfault protection in conjuction
with an additional over load relay. MPCB is only used for
Motor Protection.

First of all if you want to mean MCCB please read Moulded
Case Circuit Breaker not Motor Control Circuit Breaker.
MCCBs are superior than MCB by virtue of its higher short
time current withstand capacity.

Answer / winner

MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT BREAKER(MCCB)IS MORE SENSITIVE THAN
MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKER(MCB).IN MCCB THE SHOT TIME
WITHSTAND CAPACITY IS HIGHER THAN MCB.THEN MCCB COST IS
HIGHER THAN MCB

There are two nos of 33Kv/11Kv 5MVA transformers conecting through HT cable from substation having metering at substation itself. One transformer used at a time another remains stand by.Further 11 nos of 11Kv/440V transformers are attached on it and each transformer is having its own Power factor correction panel. Now one 33/11Kv transformer at no load condition/Stand by condition is having power factor in leading side upto 0.21 and while when another tranformer at same situation have power factor in lagging 0.42. Now one thing is clear that transformer one is having 1.5 Km long 33kv cable due to that PF goes in leading side and another is having only 250 mtr length remains him lagging. Now i want to know that how i can maintain the Power factor at no load/ stand by position though both are behaving in seperate manner.
