diesel engines are more preferred.the compression ratio
usually ranges from 18 to 24.more the CR more the thermal
efficiency.also diesel engines are robust and reliable.a
turbocharged diesel engine has much improved power to weight
ratio with added fuel economy,reduced noise,vibration &
emission and finally long lasting servive life.

actually this question has no significance today,as petrol and diesel engines have comparable performances today................each one has certain its own advantages n disadvantages.........any way it depends on the requirement
