because density of cold air is higher than warm air,hence it
is placed at top.Cold air comes downword & cool the bottum part.

we can place it in bottom also. But the compressor is in
bottom produce large heat.

In refregirator compressed air release to expand in a large
space suddenly, that space requires to lenghty tubes placed
fron bottom to top so as it meats the space to expand and
cool to thermal exchange.Thats why freezer is placen on
top.

Density of cold air is more so cold air can fall down itself hence all fridge will remain cold. Same principle is apply on heater y they are kept always bottom not fixed at height in room
