In order to increase the ruggedness & thereby mechanical
strength of cable, it will be made in spiral in shape.One
more reason is we can bend the core whenever a sharp curve
is needed in the erection of cable.

this is to increase the strength of cable core. As cable
core is amde of multiple small size wires called strandes.
