What is the d/f b/w MCCB & MCB..

Answer / sakthivel.k

MCB- This it self says that Miniature Circuit Breaker.
MCB's ranges from 1Amps to 63Amps.
MCB's breaking capacity 10KA,15KA & 25KA.
MCB's occupies less space.
MCB's can be used even in the houses.
MCB's can be used with out enclosures but this is safer.
Whereas
MCCB- Moulded Case Circuit Breaker
MCCB's ranges from 32Amps even up to 1200Amps and more.
MCCB's breaking capacity starts from 15KA.
MCCB's occupies more space.
MCC's can't be used for small applications because of its
cost.

What is the d/f b/w MCCB & MCB..

Answer / rvg.msceb

MCB- means is Miniature Circuit Breaker.
MCB having a bi-metallic strip thats senses the current
flow as the metal produces heat.

MCCB- means Moulded Case Circuit Breaker
MCCB 's are useful for high current applications, where bi-
metalic strip is not useful for sensing current through
heat. Its having a sensing circuit which senses current
throgh a group of resistances, and the calibration is very
necessary in such systems. beyond some specified value of
current, arc quenching medium to be incorporated. so
preferably MCCB rating should be less than say 600 Amps.

What is the d/f b/w MCCB & MCB..

Answer / venkatesan.j

1. MCB stands for Miniature Circuit Breaker and MCCB stands
for Moulded Case Circuit Breaker.
2. MCB cannot be tripped from remote, whereas MCCB can be
tripped from remote as it has shunt trip ciol inbuilt in
it .
3. MCB has a fixed current setting whereas MCCB as range
through whitch it can be opreated.

Answer / j.s. patel

MCB- Miniature circuit breaker
> Low breaking capacity i.e. 9KA only.
> Low rating capacity i.e.available up to 63A only.
> Available in fixed range.
> Available in single pole.

MCCB- Moulded case circuit breaker
> Wide breaking capacity i.e. More than 85KA
> Available in wide range i.e. up to 1200A
> Adjustable range
> Not available in single pole
> Available with adjustable GF & short ckt. protection.

What is the d/f b/w MCCB & MCB..

Answer / phanendra babu

MCB- MCB's are in rated capacity, these are not having any
range i.e if we take a 10A mcb,it will operate beyond that
only and these are open type(i.e not having any asing or en
closer.

MCCB-MCCB means moulded case circuit breakers, which is
having current range setting capability like relays. if mccb
is of range from 200A,we can set the operating range in b/w
min and max.
