In practical there is no dc generator.Induced emf in an
any generator is always ac,but by using commutator we are
converting ac in to unidirectional supply. So the dynamo is
an electrical equipment which consists of commutator and it
gives unidirectional curent[not perfect DC]. The another
name of the dynamo is called as DC GENERATOR.
Alternator is an electrical equipment which dont have
commutator arrangement and it gives ac supply.
the names independent of the size .

i wd like to say to "ranga" that, its not necessary that
alternator is independent of load,
in generator side ,there
is two mode- 1st is speed mode,
another- load mode.
in speed mode, at constant input, speed is fixed,
in load mode, load is constant at fixed input.
rest of all is true.
