What is the "junk dimension"? Give with examples?..

Answer / pratap gangula

Junk dimension is a cartesan product of dimensions which have very low cardinality. So instead of making separate dimensions for each such low cardinality source, combine all of them into one single dimension. This saves the number of foreign keys on the fact table which reduces the number of indexes on fact tables. Eventually it increases the performance of the cube.
