what is the meaning of servo motor. In trains, what type of the motors we are using at the bottom ..

Answer / salil

Servo Motor is one which functions based on the feedback it
receives from comparator and other feedback devices for
accurate functioning, in both the directon. it is used as
control device. In trains, traction motors are used,
normally are d.c. series motors.

ACTUALLY SERVOMOTOR MEANS IT WILL ROTATE WITH SOME ANGLE,IN
ELECTRICAL TRAINS THE PURPOSE OF THE SERVOMOTOR IS TO LIFT
THE PANTOGRAPH WITH SOME ANGLE TO TOUCH WITH THE CONTACT

what is the meaning of servo motor. In trains, what type of the motors we are using at the bottom ..

Answer / ramasamyseenu

servo motor is the motor which just converts the rotational movement of one motor into the same equivalent rotational motion of another motor, It has a servo transmitter and servo receiver and amplifier unit and also a error correction and sensing unit(which actually senses and corrects the error in servo receiver side). For example if you rotate the knob present in the servo transmitter by some angle say 120 degree, the same amount of rotation can be obtained in servo receiver and if any error occurs it is corrected by the error ckt. the operation can be clockwise or anti-clockwise direction i.e in receiver side it can be able to rotate same as transmitter rotation or in opposite direction rotation of transmitter rotation in order to perform opposite direction rotation you just have to reverse any two of the 3 phase supply i.e connect the ryb of transmitter side with either rby or yrb connection. realtime example of servomotor is in radar in order to locate the position of the radar.
under the train compartment dc series motors are used

we all know that in transformer, voltage and current are inversely related i.e. Vp/Vs= Is/Ip....so in standard CT..we have a ratio of 200/5...that means our voltage should increase by ratio of 40..althoug that is not the case...because that requires high insulation level.and pratically not feasible......can anybody clarify my ques.......thanx
