high way pavements are constructed based on IRC
recommendation.it have a correct pavement width, super
elevation, shift, etc., it is capable to withstand high
vehicle load, give limited friction on vehicle, and have
flexibility to withstand load without any damage. but local
roads are have less importance so it doesn't satisfy all
requirement.

highway pavements are made to bear high speed rolling
loads while street roads are made for light loads.

The main diffrence are for the highway pavement more width
of road provided than local road , thickness of road is
also more than local road, all the cautionary ,mandatory
&informatery signs available in highway road comparing with
local road & fund providing agencies to highway are sate{

As the name itself tell's HIGHWAY means HIGH - WAY, it means the level of pavement is higher than the ground level, the reason is HIGHWAY must serve through out the year.so, it should be kept away from water,floods etc....

for higway pavements the design is done based on the IRC
recommendations and all the geometric requirements are
maintained.it is rigid pavement. all laboratory based tests
were carried out for the design of pavement.
in case of local soil there no requirement of carring
laboratory based tests. it is a flexible pavement.

Is it necessary to apply tack coat over the primecoat. IF not what happens.answers other than 1.to superimpose the next layer(2) to adhere the layers so as to form homogenity.
