SCR is a controlled rectifier wheras diode is a simple
rectifier, In SCR the gate current controls the firing of
SCR wheras in diode no gate currnt is required for its
control thats why silicon is known as silicon controlled
rectifier.

SCR is used in High frequency applications but diode is low
freuency devices, SCR can be in high temparatures but not diode.

Answer / thyristor
LET'S SUPPOSE WE HAVE A SINE WAVE[ALTERNATING CURRENT/AC
VOLTAGE]....
IN ORDER TO CONVERT THIS AC VOLTAGE TO DIRECT VOLTAGE WE
USUALLY EMPLOY A DIODE RECTIFIER TO DO THE JOB. THIS DIODE
WILL CONDUCT THE CURRENT NEARLY 180 degrees INTO THE LOAD,
WHEREAS A SCR WILL CONDUCT FROM THE MOMENT IT GETS A PROPER
IMPULSE ON ITS GATE. SCR MAY CONDUCT THE CURRENT ANYWHERE
BETWEEN 0....180degrees, THAT'S WHY IT IS CALLED SILICON
CONTROLLED RECTIFIER, OR THYRISTOR.

ACCORDING TO MY KNOWLEDGE SCR IS A THREE TERMINAL THREE
JUNCTIONED DEVICE WHICH IS USED TO RECTIFY AND TO CONTROL
THE BFLOW OF CURRENT.BUT WHERE AS THE DIODE IS USED ONLY
FOR THE RECTIFICATION PURPOSE

Given a collection of points P in the plane, a 1-set is a point in P that can be separated from the rest by a line; i.e. the point lies on one side of the line while the others lie on the other side. The number of 1-sets of P is denoted by n1(P). The maximum value of n1(P) over all configurations P of 10 points in the plane is

charge at rest result in e.f and charge in motion result in m.f then how can an accelerated charge give rise to emf wave? then there should be no e.f due to acc charge as it rise from charge at rest?
Guys I am in DILEMMA.. plz HELP!!! Guys, I am engineering graduate in ECE from Banglore(VTU). I am working as Tech support engr, in one of the mnc. Now I am worrying about my future, like should I continue in this (fedup with night shipts) or shall I do other domain courses (like software testing, SAP, JAVA )(?). If I do CCNA then is it gonna help me with the tech support engr and in future(?){if I get handsome bucks after doing the CCNA, then I can continue with the night shipts and tech support} But I dont know if it is going to happen(please suggest). Is the technical support will join to the Network engineer post in future(any way)? Will the pay become as like software in future? Please help!!!! Thank you
