Answer / n.rajasekhar
There are various definition's for quality factor
basic def is 2*pi*(stored energy/dissipated energy per cycle)
.In case if the circuit don't have dissipative elements then
use Q=(center frequency/3db bandwidth).If the circuit wont
oscillate then use (imaginary term/real term).
coming to how Q should be ideally
1.In case of filter
.707 for max flatness,.5 for no
oscillation's,1/sqrt(3)for max flt group delay.
2.For oscillators nad Bandpass filters Q should be as max
as possible
3.for amplifiers q should be as low as possible inorder to
get good step response.
Hope you learn some thing
Thank you,

Answer / deepanshu garg,akgec
Generally Q is defined in terms of the ratio of the peak
energy stored in the resonator to that of the energy being
lost in one cycle.

Answer / ravirajsingh
the ratio of resonance frequancy and bandwith is known as quality factor Q. if the quality factor is big then the bandwith is low because quality factor is inversaly proporsnal to bandwith.

Answer / pankaj k. gautam
Quality factor defines that how fast the energy is damping
in the resonators. it is recommended as possible as higher
value of Q.

Answer / manohar
quality factor[Q]=Wcr=Wl/r=f0/f2-f1.
where:W=omega=2pif0;
c=capcitance;
r=resistance;
l=inductance;
f0=resonant frequeny;
f2=max frequency;
f1=min frequency;
