How do you find ductile-brittle transition temperature of metals?
Answer / Harshita Pant
The ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) of a metal can be determined by conducting impact tests, such as the Charpy V-notch test. The specimen is cooled at a controlled rate and then broken by a falling pendulum. The DBTT is the temperature at which the fracture behavior changes from ductile (high strain before breaking) to brittle (little or no plastic deformation before breaking).
