What is meant by transmissivity?
Answer / Awtar Singh
Transmissivity (τ) is a dimensionless quantity in heat transfer that describes the ability of a material to transmit energy due to thermal radiation. It is defined as the ratio of the thermal flux (Q) transmitted through a given layer, to the thermal flux that would be transmitted by an ideal blackbody (with emission coefficient equal to 1) at the same temperature and under the same geometry.
