Explain method of perfusion. State some of its drawbacks.
Answer / Ravindra Kumar Verma
Perfusion is a technique used to deliver oxygenated blood, nutrients, and medications to organs or tissues outside the body, usually during organ transplantation or surgical procedures. The method involves pumping a fluid mixture through a machine that filters, warms, and oxygenates the fluid before circulating it to the organ or tissue. Drawbacks of perfusion include the risk of clotting, infection, damage to cells due to ischemia (lack of blood flow), and difficulty in maintaining physiological conditions.
