DNA fingerprinting, also known as genetic fingerprinting, is a technique used to identify individuals based on their unique patterns of DNA sequences. The principle behind DNA fingerprinting involves analyzing variations in repetitive DNA sequences called short tandem repeats (STRs) found within non-coding regions of the genome. Each person has a unique combination of STRs that can be used as a 'fingerprint' to identify them.
