What s a toxoid?
Answer / Pavitra Pratap Singh Deora
A toxoid is a modified form of a bacterial or viral toxin that has lost its toxicity while retaining its antigenicity. Toxoids are created by treating the toxins with chemicals, such as formaldehyde, heat, or acids, to make them safe for use as vaccines. By exposing the immune system to a harmless version of the toxin, the body develops immunity against the original toxin-producing organism.
