100% sure. We can not check the performance of the
particular web application manually. Some interviewers
regularly asking these kind of question to make the people
confuse. So don't answer these kind of questions. Just say
boldly we can not do that.Mainly performance testing
(load,Stress) is finding break point of the application and
how will the application react in such a heavy load (Query
Overload, More number of user's access) etc ... 100 % sure
it can be done by some kind of Performance testing tools
like LoadRunner, JMeter, VSTS etc.

Hi Manish,
Answers Given Above by Reshma and Sekhar are Absolutly
Correct but the thing is that to do that manually We need
more resources to do that Ultimatly disturbing the people
work and wasting the time of organization. That is the
reason why same thing is done through Tools.
There is Nothing different done by Tool.

Yes… Of course, logically, we can check the performance of a web application manually. Because it’s all about to check the response time of that application or we can say, here we check whether the application is responding accurately according to the predefined response time mentioned in the SRS. But only it is applicable if there is one user to use this whole application.
But practically a web application is developed for mass users and it’s not for 20 people. So it’s not possible to test the performance of an application with 20 users. We need many more users. That’s why use simulating tools like Jmeter/LoadRunner. Using these performance testing tools we can simulate as many users as we need and we can go for Load Testing as well as Stress Testing. These types of tool save company’s valuable time and money.

Performance testing means u r checking if the software is
performing well,so we need to creat a environment where all
the number of users use the system at a time to craet a
stress to check if how the software is acting under
stress, also we note the time taken by apage to open.this
the way we can do performance testing.
