In Dyn11 power transformer if any one of the 3 phases connected to earth in star connected side then please explain effect of the current flow in delta connected side of transformer.(In this case if one phase is shorted to ground in star connected side then we observe the current flow in two phases only not three phases in delta connected primary side. Please explain why it is so?)
Answer / Vipin Sonkar
When a phase is shorted to ground on the star-connected side, an unbalanced three-phase system results. The neutral point in the star connection becomes grounded, and the delta-connected primary side appears as a single-phase load. The current flows through two phases in the delta connected side, whereas the faulty phase (shorted to ground) does not contribute current to the delta side. This is due to Kirchhoff's Current Law, which states that the sum of currents entering and leaving each node in a circuit must be zero. Since the faulty phase has no connection with the neutral point in the delta configuration, it does not affect the current flow in the other two phases.

how we can select a transformer based on a particular load. suppose we have 4 motors of rating 40 h.p , 50 h.p, 80 h.p & 100 h.p. then what rating of transformer we can select. urgent. pls reply
In secondary transmission i.e., in distribution side, supply for homes are connected through different phases in order to balance the 3 phase load. But in practical we saw nearby house doesn't have power due to single phasing. But other two phases give supply. How it's possible? it doesn't make "single phasing"?
what is distribution board?
