Increasing the field current of a generator connected to a grid system while maintaining a constant real power will cause the generated voltage to increase. On a phasor diagram, this translates into a rotation of the voltage phasor away from the real axis towards the imaginary axis (leading). The phase angle between the generated voltage and the real power vector increases, causing the generated current to decrease.
