Various published papers (from USA's Nuclear Regulatory
Commission to Gas Technology Institute) agree that an
orifice plate installed backwards reads low anywhere from
8-25% below the actual true flow rate.
Furthermore, under-measurement error is reasonably well
correlated by the orifice "Beta ratio".
