It is nothing but magnetic saturation
any increase in current above certain level will not have
effect in the magnetic circuit.
The instrument does not work in the faulty condition due to
saturation and circuit to be protected will get damaged.

we know that dc motors are more superior then three phase induction motors in torque generation though they are not much used in industries why?
