why power factor is important?..

Answer / benu

kva=kw/pf,with low pf,kva will be high, insulation cost in generator and transformer+cu loss in transmission line will rise and efficiency will come down

why power factor is important?..

Answer / koti

above answer is partially correct i.e, at low pf the kw output is low and is due to inductance and capacitance elements of ckt but not harmonics

why power factor is important?..

Answer / Kunal Bharti

Power factor (PF) is an important metric in electrical systems because it indicates the efficiency of the system's use of electric power. A high power factor means that the system is using its power more efficiently, resulting in lower losses and better overall performance.n- Lower energy costs: A higher power factor results in reduced energy consumption, which can lead to cost savings on electricity bills.n- Improved system reliability: By reducing the amount of reactive power (voltage and current out of phase) in the system, a high power factor improves the stability and reliability of the electrical network.n- Reduced equipment wear and tear: A higher power factor reduces the amount of overcurrent and harmonic distortion in the system, which can help extend the lifespan of electrical equipment.

Answer / purushottam kumar

for constant power and terminal voltage ,if power factor is low current drawn is more ,so more lose ocour ,regulation is poor, conductor size increased than with high power factor

why power factor is important?..

Answer / sudhakar g

Power factor is imp bcoz....ex: If we have an panel that
will give the o/p of 300KW but if we dont maintain the
powerfactor by using APFCR it will give the o/p of 240KW
only....by maintain the powerfactor by using the APFCR we
can get (0.98%)....power factor means something lagging and
leading in power due to harmonics...
