When we are working on transformer(132\11KV). we are going
to isolate the transformer from both HV side and LV side.
then we are applying grounding on both side. My question is
that we required to isolate the VT which is still connected
from secondary side.?
Answer / binod
YES ,IT IS REQUIRED TO ISOLATE LINE VT IN SECONDARY
SIDE,BEACUSE BEFORE CHARGING THE TR. WE MUST MEASURE THE
INSULATION VALUE BY MEGGER
INSULATION VALUE TAKEN IN FOLLOWING MANNER
1)PH(HV)TO EARTH(EARTH CONNECTION REMOVED FROM TR. EARTH
BUSHING)
2)PH(LV)TO EARTH(IN THIS TEST THE LINE PT ISOLATED FROM THE
CIRCUIT OF LV SIDE OTHERWISE THE VALUE IS ZERO)
3)PH(PRIMARY)TO PH(SECONDARY)
4)CONTINUTY TEST BETWEEN PHASES OF LV(R Y B)&HV(RYB)

WHY TRANSFORMER RATING IS MENTIONED IN KVA RATHER THAN KW
We say that if voltage in a power system is increased, for a constant power the current will decrease (by P=VI). isn't this in disagreement with the ohms law(I propotional V;resistant const.).Since the resistance of transmission lines remains constant, shouldn't inc in voltage cause inc in current across the transmission line? I have read many articles across the net but still couldn't this figure this out. :( Guyz plz assist me with dis..:)..
