Why we use startor to the motor?

Answer / suganya
To limit the starting current we are using starters. In
motors the voltage equation is, v=Ia.Ra + Eb. At the time of
starting no back emf will be there i.e Eb=0. therfore
v=Ia.Ra since the resistance is negligible v=Ia i.e armature
current will be equal to the supplied voltage and speed will
be high. so to limit this current we are going for starters.

for giving protection to the motor
from overloads and adjusting the
speed of the motor. now a
days,starters are replaced by drives
for automatic control.there are
various types of starters.

Starter is mainly used for
limiting the high starting
current to a safe value. It is
also provide with different
equipment to protect the
motor from overload & low
voltage.
