Simple calculation of improving power factor?..

Answer / chetan

KVAR Required is

KVAR = P [tan (phi 1) - tan (phi 2) ]

where P = total KW
phi 1 = angle corresponds to power factor to be improved . ie cos ph 1 = 0.9

phi 2 = angle corresponds to power factor given . ie cos ph 2 = 0.7

Simple calculation of improving power factor?..

Answer / khalid mohammed yousf

S=V.I (AV)
S = (P^2 + Q^2)^(1/2)
cos ϕ =S/P
Q=(S^2-P^2)^(1/2)
Q=(E^2)/X
C=(1/2*PI*F*Xc)
C IS shunt capacitor using to improved power factor
