first let me tell you about
transformer .. Transformer
work when an alternating
current is given as input ..... So
in the case of dc drive we
need an transformer but we
are have dc as a input ... In this
case we give input to
transformer in pulsating
form ... Means we are give
voltage in the form of pulses
so that transformer will work
but if we give direct d.c then
transformer will burn ...

pulse transformer is used to fire the thyristor gate-cathode
as per required.Anode is supplied with voltage & firing will
be done to thyristor as per referrence voltage

pulse transformer is placed between any two phase. which give feedback to the pulse generator, so depending upon sine waves generate the pulses .then it it generate pulses and feed to thyristor.
