how to replace 8mm bar with 10mm bar if the the 8mm bar is not available..???..

Answer / mustafa mohammed layeak

Area of 8mm dia bar = 50.28 sqmm .
Area of 10mm dia bar= 78.57 sqmm .
For example if you don't have 8mm dia bar available to use
in 1m strip of slab,then one can use 10mm dia bar with an
increased spacing relative to 8mm dia bar.And reqired area
of steel in 1m wide strip is 452 sqmm/m length (Ast/m
length). the calculation is as follows
Using 8mm dia bar we get spacing in 1m wide strip as
s=[(b*Abar)/Ast] therefore s=[(1000*50.28)/452]. Therefore
required spacing with 8mm dia bars= 111 mm c/c.
similarly the required spacing using 10mm dia bars will be
spacing = [(1000*78.57)/452]. Therefore required spacing
using 10mm dia bars = 173mm c/c in 1m wide strip length.

how to replace 8mm bar with 10mm bar if the the 8mm bar is not available..???..

Answer / murali

dia^2/spacing=dia^2/X
if there is 10mm rod 150 mm spacing replace 8mm
100/150=64/X

0.6666=64/X
therefore X=64/0.666
=96mm
if you provide 8mm rod spacing should 96mm

how to replace 8mm bar with 10mm bar if the the 8mm bar is not available..???..

Answer / subhasis1991

You can think this in other way...

To use 10mm dia bars you just need to calculate spacing to be provided.....
When you are to use 8mm bar you would be provided the spacing(S1)..Now the spacing to be provided for a design is dependent on bar area(which is proportional to bar dia^2)...For greater bar area spacing would be less and vice versa ,so spacing is pretty much inversely proportional to the area of bar...Now to get 10mm bar spacing you just need to calculate :S1*(10^2/8^2) and you are done..
