if we put any thermocouple on a table in a room without any
connection,what temperature should it show.

as we know working principle of thermocouple , mv generation
is function of temprature difference between hot and cold
junctions, in above case we are keeping thermocouple on
table in room .means both junctions at same temprature hence
it should be shown zero temprature.for example,
if room have 30 degree temp.then hot -cold= actual temp
30- 30 = 0

it will not react up to 28 degc so, it will not show any mv hence we have to check its continuity for working
