The coupling of Diesel Engine & Alternator is know as DG
set.
Diesel is used as fuel for diesel Enigne which is also
called as Prime moover for the alernator.
when saft coupled priemoover rotate then due to Faraday`s
Electromagnetic induction law the a rotating flux is
generated cause to generate the EMF Electromagnatic Field.
As alternator is synchronous generator it will run on
constant seep otherwise not at all so for controlling of
it`s speed we usses the AVR Automatic Voltage Regulator.

DIesel generator it is a machine which
convers mechanical energy into electrical
energy its known as DG.
Its working is starts 24 volts DC supply
coming from battery so rotate the rotor
engine produce mechanical energy.
Alternater convert mechanical energy to
electrical energy so its goes to load.

Answer / kamal rana
Energy can not distroy it can change one to another form
so dg is convert chemical energy to electrical energy
through heat energy.

generator is an electronic machine that uses diesel as fuel to run the engine which rotate the motor of an alternator which produce
the electricity. As we all know that we cant destroy the energy only wee can convert it to one form to another .
So generator is also a type of machine which convert the mechanical energy into electrical energy.
